Q&A part 12 - January 2007

What was your favourite country on the Robbie tour?
Wendy from Switzerland

Jonathan: "I really really enjoyed Vienna in Europe. The Vienna crowd and the show were great. I loved Germany and Holland, but I have to say my favourite was Australia. I love Australia. If I didn't have any commitments, or any ties, or any kind of responsibility. I would move to Australia tomorrow!"

Congratulations on becoming a dad! Are there any songs you sing for the little one?
Monica from the US

Jonathan: "Mickey loves Wiggly Woo! When I sing that to him, he flaps his arms about and dances!"

Q&A 12

Do you have a favourite swear word when you're totally exasperated?
Amy from Hednesford

Jonathan: "B*****ks!"

Hi Jonny, obviously you have met a lot of really famous people in the music industry. Have you ever been extremely star struck, like meeting a hero of yours?
Jo from Australia

Jonathan: "G'day mate! The most star struck I ever got, was when Tom Jones walked into Rob's house for a cup of coffee. That was weird! I'd rather not meet my heroes, cos I think it'd be a big illusion shattered."

Did you cry at 'Bambi'?
Claudia from Germany

Jonathan: "No, not really. I did when I saw the 'Fox and Hound'. I've never really watched 'Bambi', it's one of the Disney films I haven't watched."

Bonjour Jonny! Did you get any time to do sightseeing while you were on tour with Robbie?
Juliette from France

Jonathan: "Bonjour! Je m'appelle Jonny! J'habite a Stoke-on-Trent! Well, a long time ago! I haven't done a great deal of sightseeing, I did in Australia and South America...did a lot of Paris, did a lot of Holland and Germany. It's hard really, I'm lazy when it comes to stuff like that."

Hi Jonathan, I was wondering when we'll next see you on stage as I have been to all the musicals you've appeared in and thought you were wonderful in them!LeeAnn from Glasgow

Jonathan: "Thank you! You will be seeing me in a musical this year, but I can't give away at the moment what I'm doing, but it won't be too long before I can announce it."

Hi, do you still like oatcakes? What's your favourite combo?
Stacey from Stoke

Jonathan: "Yes, I love oatcakes! My favourite combo is either sausage, cheese and beans or bacon, cheese and beans."

Hi Jonny! Did you see a lot of banners for you on the tour? Did you like it?
Shirley from Leeds

Jonathan: "I did, it was lovely! I've seen a lot of banners, especially in Germany and places like that. It was great! I saw a lot of fresh and new faces I hadn't seen before. I don't think I got any bad ones or anything, it was nice!"

How long did you live in Baddeley Green for?
Chris from Stoke-on-Trent

Jonathan: "Kind of back and forth. I grew up in Baddeley Green, then I moved to Stockton Brook, then back to Baddeley Green, then I moved to Endon, and back in Baddeley Green again! Off and on for about 12 years."

What was Robbie's reaction when he saw Mickey for the first time and has he changed any nappies?
Tracy from Bolton

Jonathan: "He cried, bless him and he was just amazed by him. In a way he's like another proud father. He has changed a nappy, but I had to re-do it, cos it was horrendous!"

How did you feel when Nikki had the baby?
Silvia from Germany

Jonathan: "Scared - very scared. At the time I fainted; my legs buckled. My breath was taken away because all of a sudden this little boy came out and I was just wondering if he was breathing alright and if Nikki was alright. Every emotion goes through your body the day your baby is born. It's quite hard to explain to someone who hasn't had a baby. It's overpowering more than anything."

How did you spend your Christmas day?
Sal from Derbyshire

Jonathan: "Christmas day this year, was spent like this: I was in Swindon with my wife's family. I woke up at about 8 o'clock, with all the kids and opened all the presents. Then fell back asleep again for an hour, woke up, got myself changed and went over to Nikki's mum's best friend. Drank 8 glasses of champagne in an hour, got really, really tiddly, walked to the pub where we were having our Christmas day dinner; ate that, fell asleep again for a couple of hours and drank a bottle of Bailey's with my brother-in-law!"

After this year's tour, did participating change the way you look at Robbie's career and how difficult touring can be?
Deb from Australia

Jonathan: "Abso-bl**dy-lutely! Sorry, but the way I tour is a lot nicer than the way Rob tours. Don't get me wrong, I can't sit and moan about the tour as it was incredible, but all you do is you go to a hotel from a plane, to a plane to another country, to a hotel, to a gig...I honestly woke up one day and went: 'I have not got a clue where I am...' I phoned reception and asked: 'Where are we?' It was nice to see Europe instead of being in Southampton for example."

Does it bother you when fans approach you wanting to talk and have photos taken?
Sue from West Yorkshire

Jonathan: "Not at all!"

Just imagine you’re not famous and you’re really into a band or singer. Would you queue outside the gates for 13 hours to stand on front row? I did and it was brilliant!
Sandra from Berlin

Jonathan: "No. I'd stand for a few hours, but not 13. I don't think you had to queue to get a good view of Rob. A lot of people made the mistake of rushing to the front, but they should have ran to the ego walk. I think that's the best view."

Is it true you're good friends with Paddy McGuinness?
Sally from Bradford

Jonathan: "Very true, yes. I'm very, very good friends with Paddy. In fact, he came to see 'Aladdin' and I took him out for a local curry. He's a very funny man and I like him a lot."

Can you balance a golf ball in your chin dimple?
Luppy from Liverpool

Jonathan: "I've never tried actually!"

Jonathan reaches into his bag, takes out a golf ball and tries...

"Awwww...no!"

  Q&A 12

What time are you usually asleep by?
Janet from England

Jonathan: "It really depends. There's something nice about going to sleep before midnight, but I think I manage it about two weeks in a year. Sometimes I like going to bed at 11pm, when it's just me. Just chilling out and not talk to everybody. Everybody likes their own time."

Good game for Unicef! How did it feel to get 'Man of the match' on the night?
Terency from Bishops Stortford

Jonathan: "Amazing! It was a nice thing. It was watched by millions and I think got 45% of all the votes. It was a great day with a great family atmosphere. I felt liked. I'm so pleased I was a part of it and came up with the idea initially."

Will it come back?

Jonathan: "Probably in a couple of years, yeah."

Hi Jonny, if you had the ability to time travel anywhere in time, where would you travel to and why?
Trace from South Wales

Jonathan: "I think I would go back to the Sinatra days and the Ratpack and go to Vegas to watch them. I'd go and hang out with Sammy, Frank and Dean and be the mate! I'd end up worming my way in somehow! I'd be the mate and see what they got up. Those were the great days!"

Hi Jonathan, does it frustrate you some fans can't seem to distinguish between an entertainers' working life and his personal life, particularly yours?
Suzy from Melbourne

Jonathan: "I'm very lucky as I have very respectful fans and I hope I give them respect too, because I think that's important, more than anything. The only thing I'm very wary of is the press intrusion, but luckily I'm at a nice little level I get the pluses in life without the harrassment Rob gets. What Robbie has is something I'd never want, it's horrific. You can't breathe, you can't go out of your room, you can't do anything - it's that bad it has driven Rob away. I wouldn't want to think I'd bring my son up in an environment like that. So really, the level I've got is nice and my fans are really respectful and supportive and I'm very aware and appreciative of it."

Hi Jonny, if Rob wasn't around who would you pick to be your best mate?
Ami from Stoke-on-Trent

Jonathan: "I don't know really! I've got really good mates, like Ant & Dec and Alan Connelly, and I'd class them as my best mates. You can't choose your best mate, it's something that just happens."

Would you ever consider setting up an official MySpace for yourself?
Daniella from Middlesex

Jonathan: "To be honest with you, I don't get the MySpace thing yet. I know it's big. At the moment we're going through this thing where people try to be me, and this that and the other, but I'm still getting to grips with my own website, never mind MySpace!"

On a scale from 1 to 10, how much satisfaction do you get from squirting water at forum members on the front row?
Malene from Denmark

Jonathan: "I love getting people I know! I do feel sorry for some people as it's cold outside, but it's bl**dy funny!"
