Part 8 - March 2005

Are you superstitious about anything?
Sarah-Kay from Germany

Jonathan: "Yes, magpies. There's a thing called 'One for sorrow, two for joy'. If I see one I don't like it, I need to see two and I say 'Good morning mr. Magpie', every time I see them."

Hi Jonathan! How did you prepare for Tommy and did you watch the film?
Julie from Birmingham

Jonathan: "I didn't watch the film, cos I've always been put off it. I always listen to the cd, which I've always loved. I prepared by just singing the songs really, and just knowing the story anyway and reading through the script."

I know you have two tattoos, would you like another one and if so, what would you get?
Sandy from Vienna

Jonathan: "Yeah I would have some more, but I don't want them showing. It's kind of addictive you know. I have no idea what I'd get though."

How was the Match after party? Were you treated like royalty after your stellar performance? Did you like our banner?
Roo from Milton Keynes

Jonathan: "I was just on cloud 9 to be honest, I really was! I ran so much, my legs were burning and the adrenaline made I couldn't sleep all night, so I was just lying there, awake. The after party was great, professional football players came up to me and said: "great goal mate, great goal!"

If money was no object, what would your ultimate purchase be?
Hannah from Bedford

Jonathan: "My own plane, so I could play golf all over the world. I'd buy my own golf course as well."

Hi Jonny, do you get nervous much before you get on stage and if so, how do you deal with it?
Hayley from Liverpool

Jonathan: "I don't tend to get that nervous actually, I get excitement nerves."

Where's your favourite place to hang out in LA?
Jessica from London

Jonathan: "I like a place called 'the Grove'."

Hey Jonny, what did you think was the funniest clip on You've been Framed and why?
Becki from Ulverston

Jonathan: "My favourite clip is the one called 'Fairground boy'. There was either a boy or a girl and she was in a fairground ride and she thought she was getting out of it and she was screaming for dear life! And my other favourite is everyone's favourite - the old woman speaking into the camera."

Do you like cooking?
Sarah-Kay from Germany

Jonathan: "I don't dislike it, but I prefer it being cooked for me. I don't like eating my own cooking. It's not bad, it's just when you cook it, you don't want to eat it."

Yo Stokie! We're really proud of you, what makes you feel proud?
Jade and Sarah from Stoke

Jonathan: "Hiya Stokie! What makes me feel proud? Successful stories from other people."

Hey Jonny! Imagine you had the chance to talk to Marilyn Monroe, Kurt Cobain or James Dean, who would you choose and why?
Maxim from Virgin Islands

Jonathan: "James Dean, cos a lot of people say I look a bit like him, so I can say: 'I look like you!' (laughs out loudly!). He's one of the coolest, charismatic people there has ever been."

I play the piano in bar 'Epernay' in Birmingham. If you came in, what would you like to hear?
Amy from Hednesford

Jonathan: "James Taylor songs; 'Fire & Rain' and 'Caroline in my mind'."

Hi Jonny! In the last Q&A you rated Oslo as one of the 3 cities you liked best. I was wondering why that is and what you like about it.
Yvonne from Oslo

Jonathan: "Friendliness, they're so lovely and friendly in Oslo. As well as they are in Denmark and all over Scandinavia and Germany to be honest. People are really friendly. It's a different kind of nice-ness they have over there from what we have."

Do you plan to tour Europe with Tommy?
Sabine from Germany

Jonathan: "I don't think so. It's a shame, cos I think it would do well."

Hi Jonny! Are you a silly or a serious person?
Yannica from Germany

Jonathan: "Silly...a bit of both! 50% silly, 50% serious."

What sort of reaction do you get when you walk into a pub?
Kiran from Solihull

Jonathan: "It's weird, people don't approach me, they just talk about me. There's a lot of talking and staring going on."

Hey Jonny! What character from an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical would you like to play?
Lucy from Kent

Jonathan: "I'd love to play the Phantom in 'Phantom of the opera' one day. That would be a great role to play, but not for another few years yet."

Can you do any sign language?
David from Rotherham

Jonathan: (signs something)..."That means thank you." (holds up one finger)..."That means one!" (holds up 2 fingers)..."That means 2!"

Could you tell me the name of your favourite sound engineer? You must have worked with so many. Which one do you think is the best?
Bob the soundman

Jonathan: "Chris Duncan!"

Is there anything you turned down and later regretted not doing?
Malene from Copenhagen

Jonathan: "That's a good question. I can honestly say I don't think I have. I hope I haven't. Every choice I've made has gone quite well."

Why don't you have a pet snake?
Eric from Holland

Jonathan: "Cos I don't like snakes."

I saw in my local newspaper Ant & Dec went to see Tommy. Did they enjoy the show?
Paula from Wolverhampton

Jonathan: "They loved it actually. Ant is not a great lover of musicals and I have to drag him to every one and he actually said that this is his favourite one he's ever seen me in. So that was nice."

When were you last hung-over?
Nicola from Exeter

Jonathan: "Do you know what? I can't remember."

I listened to you and Robbie on BRMB. Did you manage to stop him riding his bike in the rain?
Mandeep from Birmingham

Jonathan: "No, it's an on-going thing with me and Rob at the moment. He wants to ride bikes and I don't agree. I think he'll end up killing himself. He's mad!"

Are you ticklish?
Claudia from Germany

Jonathan: "Yes, I hate my feet being tickled. HATE it!"
